CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
We are very concerned with the well being and education of our
children. We understand that younger students have a shorter attention span and
need age-appropriate teaching styles. Consequently, we divide our children's
classes according to those needs, conducting separate pre-school, kindergarten,
and young adult classes. Our unique children's programs use interesting and
enjoyable methods to keep the student's attention and teach our younger
students skills that they can use for life.
CUBS
Children between the ages of 4 & 5 years old and currently in
pre-school are in a very distinct growing stage. They are embarking on new
discoveries everyday and learning how to cope with all of the challenges. Their
intellect, emotions, physical capabilities, and social competence all are
growing at a rapid rate. They are growing so fast that they often overlook
what's important and can hardly tell the difference between right and wrong.
|
That's where the Cubs Program comes into play. Our program was
specially designed for the stages of development of 4 and 5-year olds. In the
Cubs Program, each child will experience training that targets the skills that
they are all currently developing; skills such as large and gross motor skills,
behavior development, and character development.
These skills have been broken down into age-specific exercises,
games, activities, and drills that complement their stage of development.

TIGERS
The Tigers Program is a preliminary martial arts training course
that focuses on building 5 and 6 year olds' capabilities: physically,
emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Our program helps shape each
student's life in a way that will positively enhance their future.
Children this age are in a unique growth period in their life. They
are refined in their gross motor skills, while establishing a foundation in
basic fundamental skills. These basic fundamental skills include: focus,
teamwork, control, balance, memory, discipline, fitness, and coordination. In
any sport or activity, all of these 8 skills are important to have. The more
exposure to proper development in each of these skills, the better your child
will be.
In the Tiger Program, your child will train in an environment that
is just right for them. They will train with other children in their age group,
and not have to be limited or overwhelmed by younger and older children. Each
class will accommodate every student's skills and abilities in a way that is
not overly demanding or intimidating. That means more age-specific instruction
with better results!

YOUNG ADULTS
Our Young Adult Program is for children in grades 1 through 7. The
children meet together according to their belt rank on forms day, but are
divided according to their year in school for sparring days.
-
We promote non-violent resolutions to conflict. Our
methods help children to explore and understand conflict through role-play and
other exercises.
-
Students will improve physical fitness as their
coordination, flexibility, and balance increase. These skills will cross over
to their sports and they will meet each physical challenge more confidently and
more capably.
-
Students will improve their "life" skills as they gain
better self-discipline and self-esteem through positive thinking and better
listening skills.
-
Our young students are treated with respect and are taught
to return the same respect to others.
-
We believe in praise, encouragement, and positive
reinforcement. We have incentives for good behavior and effort in school as
well as in the home.
-
We teach students the value of making goals and working to
meet them.
We feel that the emphasis we place on family values and life skills
through our constant character development programs with the young students
leads to the students reaching higher levels academically, socially, and within
the home. All the while, they are eager to learn because they are having fun at
the same time!
ADULT CLASSES
Our "Adult" classes are for those in grades 8 through 12. They are
taught at a much higher level and an advanced level of maturity is expected.
-
Our adults learn common sense self-defense. They learn to
no longer present themselves as a "victim." They learn how to first use
non-violent resolutions to conflict and then, if necessary, how to defend
themselves physically.
-
Students increase their physical fitness. They improve
muscle strength and toning, flexibility and coordination, and physical stamina.
-
Adults' "life" skills are reinforced as they gain greater
self-control, self-confidence, communication skills, and positive thinking.
This, in turn, leads to the courage to persevere in all difficult situations
and to set and pursue goals.
LEADERSHIP GROUPS

SWAT TEAM
This Special Winning
Attitude Team
is the elite club in the Dojo. A maximum of twelve students is allowed on this
team at one time. The qualifications to be considered for nomination into the
group are many and steep. One must maintain a "B" average or higher in school.
One must have been a member of the Dojo a minimum of 2 ½ years with an Adult
Black Belt. Plus, the student must have a high level of competency in the first
5 katas. As the name indicates what is of primary importance is the attitude of
the student in class, as a helper, and toward the other members of the Dojo.
All S.W.A.T. members assist at classes two times per week plus attend numerous
workshops to increase leadership skills and improve the way they interact with
their peers. These students choose to influence how Eye of the Tiger grows.

STORM TEAM
This Special Team
Of Role
Models is the other elite club in the Dojo. It is
modeled after our SWAT Team, but is limited to those who are Young Adult
Shodans. Their natural progression upon advancing to Adult Black Belt is to
move into the SWAT Team.
PAB (Parents Advisory Board)
This group of parents meets once a month to help Sensei set policy
and develop new programs, as well as to discuss trends in the school. They
serve as a voice for other parents. They also help organize and execute
community service projects. These volunteers contribute their time, a precious
commodity in this day and age, and their input to make Eye of the Tiger an even
stronger Dojo.
